Mary Young Woodard was born Jan 26, 1840 in Rochester, New York, died in the Del Norte Hospital July 9, 1931, aged 91.
She was united in marriage to William Woodard in the spring of 1858 in the state of Illinois.
To this union were born five children, three boys and two girls, three of whom are living, Melvin and George of Saguache and Mrs. Carrie Dougherty of Baker City, Oregon.
From Illinois they moved to Iowa living there until the summer of 1878 when they traveled across the plains in a covered wagon, locating in Saguache, Colo. In the autumn of that same year where they have made their home since.
The husband and father was called to his reward June 19, 1904. The oldest daughter, Alice, died May 11, 1929 and one son died in early childhood.
Grandma Woodward is survived by three children, six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
