Fred was the third of five sons born to Anna Alberta Coleman Curtis and George Henry Curtis.

Fred was born in the Adobe home built by Dr. W.A. Settle in 1863, Fred Curtis said L.D. Curtis bought it in 1891. George Curtis moved into it in 1897 and Fred was born there in 1900.
Fred lived in this home his entire life.

He grew up on the ranch S.E. of Sagauache, and left for service in WWI with his brother Ralph. The war endend before their deployment.

He was married Sept 1921 in Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado to Leona Mosier after his education ended at Colorado State.

They spent the years ranching, and helping the other brothers with their respective ranches.

Children: Shirley Jean Harding, Jack Frost Mosier Curtis, and Pauline "Polly" Coleman.
