MONTE VISTA - Lillian Ada Quay Hochstrasser, died Oct. 6, 2001 at Mountain Meadows Nursing Home.

She was born July 27, 1896 in Big Cottonwood, UT to Lewis and Camilla (Matson) Ward, and grew up in several mining camps in the Nevada, Utah and Arizona area.

After marry Walter Quay in the early 1920's, they resided in Oatman, Aris. until his death in 1938. They had one son William L. Quay, but in 1922.
Lil then moved to San Francisco, Calif. area where she worked at Schlade Lock for 12 years. During this time, she married Walter Hochstrasser.
After retiring, they moved to Saguche to care for her elderly parents and resided there until December 2000.
Lillian and Walter spent several years traveling the hills of Colorado fishing. She loved to do crafts, namely tin can art, bottle cutting, making creatures brom bones, crocheting and knitting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harry Ward, her son William L. Quay and both husbands.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Rowena Quay of Saguache; four grandchildren, Mollie King of Monte Vista, Nancy (Marck) Stalder of Boise, City, Okla., Joyce (Jerry O'Conner) Turpin of Windsor and Walter (Susan) Quay of Anchorage, Aka.; eight grandchildren, Brian (Paula) Stalder of Beaver, Okla., David Stalder of Weatherford, Okla., Monica (Ted) Olivas of Germany, Chad Turpin of Windsor, Krista Turpin of Windsor, Daniel Quay, Jessica Quay and Jeffery Quay of Anchorage, Aka. and two great-great grandchildren, Arianna Stalder of Boise City, Okla., and Will Olivas of Germany.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13, at Pitkin Avenue Baptist Church n Saguache.
Arrangements are by Strohmayer's Funeral Home.
