W.A. HERRELL
W.A. Herrell, aged 77, died at his home near Peaks Friday morning. He was a veteran of the civil war, having served for more than three years in the federal army and had been a member of the Baptist church from boyhood. He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Mary Richardson of Livingston; Mrs. P.W. Bilbro, Mrs. Clyde Pruden and Mrs. R.H. Underwood all of Knoxville; three sons, Webster and C.E. of this place and J.R.C., of Washington, D.C. the funeral was conducted at Zion Baptist church on the Clinton pike at 11 o'clock, Saturday morning.

Deceased was the color bearer of his regiment, the Third Tennessee, in the war and saw service in the battles fought throughout Georgia and other states. He was noted as the tallest soldier in his regiment, if not in the state, being near seven feet and of powerful physique.
