John was a revolutionary War soldier. Arriving in America in 1775. Signed up in Lancaster Co. Penn. served for 5 yrs. til the end of the war in 1783. Was in the following battles: Long Island,White Plains,Princeton, Brandy Wine,
Germantown,Monmouth,Stoney Point and Red Bank were he was struck in the neck by a musket ball lost an eye and was captured.He married Barbara Smith daughter of Frederick
Smith of Chester C. Penn. around Dec-1783 or Jan. 1784
Moved from Penn. to Dunkard's Creek Monangalia Co. Vir.
then to Licking Co. Ohio. John & Barbara had 14 chlidren,
only 4 of the 14 were mentioned in his Rev. war pension file. Andrew the oldest B: 27-Mar.-1785, Coonrod, Henry
and Charles. In the 1850 census Licking Co. Oh. Barbara
is still living. and lives with her son Charles at the age of 97 yrs.
