Rosa Johnson and her husband George Lee Johnson operated their farm at Middle Run, Braxton County, West Virginia, where they raised their seven children and assisted them in obtaining good educations. She was known for her kindness to poor people, including tramps who wandered the countryside in the early 20th century. She and her husband were first buried on their farm but their remains were later moved to this Middle Run Cemetery.
