Mrs. Betty Jo Dixon Bennett, 83, died Thursday at Hospice House Satilla following an extended Illness. She was a native of Waycross and lived most of her life in Waycross.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Nolan Dixon and Leona Thrift Dixon.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, the Joy Group, Adult Coed IV Sunday School Class and the Lakeview Ladies Golf Association.
Survivors include her husband, N.D. "Knobby" Bennett of Waycross;
a daughter, Charlene Bennett Hale (husband Mike) of Hoboken;
two sons,
Danny R. Bennett (wife Valerie) and
Gregory J. Bennett (wife Donna S.) both of Waycross;
9 grandchildren;
12 great grandchildren;
three sisters,
Diane Dixon Purvis of Blackshear,
Vernell Dixon Sweat of Flowery Branch and
Flora Dell Dixon Hunt and of Dolgeville, NY
and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday (October 20, 2014) at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at the church Monday morning from 9:30 until 10:30. The Joy Group and the Adult Coed IV Sunday School Class of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church are requested to meet at the church Monday morning at 10:40 to serve as honorary pallbearers.
