John Chapin Brinsmade: He was the 1st child of William Bartlett Brinsmade and Charlotte (Chapin) Brinsmade born in Springfield, MA April 24. 1852 (descendant of Samuel Chapin on his mother's side). He graduated from Harvard in 1874 and married Mary Gold Gunn, his cousin. He was elected to the CT House of Representatives and the Senate and was a member of the CT Council on Education and a member of the American Academy of Plitical and Social Science. He was a teacher at The Gunnery School and later the Headmaster there.
