Don Flowers landed his first job
with the KANSAS CITY STAR newspaper.
He couldn't even legally drive a
car as he was only 16 yrs old!
He moved on to join the staff at
the CHICAGO JOURNAL AMERICAN.
Essentially self-taught, Flowers
launched his cartooning career
after moving to NYC. He drew a
panel feature called:
"PUFFY PIG"
Then he created a strip called:
"OH, DIANA"
Both were distributed by the
Associated Press.
Flowers next adventure was in 1931
when he started:
"MODEST MAIDENS".
It was a panel feature.
He moved from the Associated Press
to King Features with the panel.
For the next 25 years, Flowers
continued to draw his long-legged
lovely chorus girls, hatcheck girls,
housewives, vixen gold diggers and
buxom bathing beauties -all called:
"GLAMOR GIRLS".
Flowers' work was published
over 300 papers.

It was noted by critics and admirers,
his "Glamor Girls panels showed the
same graceful lines and clever wit
throughout his career.
A Malibu, california resident,
Flowers worked from his own studio
for almost 2 decades.

He was FATHER to an adopted
SON.

emphysema. He died at the age
of 59.
