Jones Youth Drowns In Lake Arcadia

EDMOND — A 14-year-old Jones youth drowned Saturday afternoon while swimming at Lake Arcadia.

Edmond police spokesman Sgt. Joe Evans said Jeremy Hale Peters was pronounced dead on arrival at Edmond Regional Hospital about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Peters had been swimming with his family near Central State Beach at Lake Arcadia, Evans said.

"He was with a buddy and he tried to swim out to the far end. He tired and began to swim back. His buddy lost track of him."

Evans said police arrived about 10:20 a.m. and formed search lines using volunteers. Peters was found nine minutes later under 7 feet of water, Evans said.
