Jesse Addison Green was the oldest son of Joseph Hamilton "Hamp" Green and Sarah "Sallie" Melissa Bussey Green. Jesse's father died before Jesse was 5 years old. His stepfather was John C. Andrews.

On 23 October 1901, Jesse Addison Green and Lenora "Nora" Amanda Cobb were married in Union Parish, Louisiana. Jesse and Lenora's children were Jesse Leemon Green, Ruby Inez Green Cole, Eldrice Hampton Green, Carlyn William Green, Zera Margaret Green McKinnie and Mattie Lenora Green Reagan. Jesse lived all of his life in Union Parish, Louisiana. He was a farmer in Marion, Union Parish, Louisiana. Jesse and Nora were members of Meridian Baptist Church in Union Parish, Louisiana and later members of Liberty Baptist Church.

Jesse was a the 8th great grandson of Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower. He was the 7th great grandson of Mayflower passenger Giles Hopkins. Stephen Hopkins was also a signer of the Mayflower Compact. In 1610, Stephen Hopkins was in Jamestown, Virginia.

James Norris, Jesse's great great grandfather, was in the War of 1812. The ancestors of Jesse include seven documented Daughters of the American Revolution soldiers and patriots. These DAR ancestors are Captain James Green, George Bussey, Zadock Bussey, Jesse Cook, Josiah Norris, James Patrick and John Cole.
