EASTLAND – Larry Purdom, age 62, passed away in Abilene Friday, October 16, 2009. Funeral services were Monday, October 19, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Summers-Bakker Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland. Interment followed at Murray Cemetery with full military honors. Marcy Grun from Bluff Creek Cowboy Church officiated. Larry Douglas Purdom was born on January 28, 1947 to Luther and Margaret (Hobbs) Purdom. He graduated from Carbon High School. Larry served his country in the United States Air Force. His career in the Air Force took him to many different locations around the world. He met and married Emiko Yamashiea on February 26, 1971. After retiring from the Air Force, Larry enjoyed farming and his horses. He was a faithful member of Bluff Creek Cowboy Church. He worked at the Cowboy Church with his pastor and friend on Cowboy Arena. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Margaret Purdom and a sister, Glenda Horton of Austin. He is survived by his wife, Emiko Purdom; his daughter, Anna Bowles and her husband Shane; his grandchildren, Tanner and Bricie Bowles; his son, Dwight D. Purdom; his two brothers, Donnie and Mike Purdom; and his two sisters, Sharon Oebel and Lisa Nichols; also aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, nieces and nephews who loved him.
