The four sisters were living with their mother, who was homesteading in the agricultural community Gridley Colony Number One. Their father lived and worked in San Francisco as a skilled laborer/pipefitter. He was a long-term resident of SROs (no longer existing) which were located near present-day SF MOMA in San Francisco.
After their mother's death, the eldest girls went to work in hotels as domestic servants, and the younger girls were sent to a Catholic boarding school in Grass Valley.
Eventually, the eldest sisters moved to San Francisco, and in time the younger girls joined them.
She is buried in the Truman family plot, with her beloved second husband Ramon Truman, and his family.
