David W. Glossbrenner was the youngest son of Alfred S. Glossbrenner and Ramona Bertram Glossbrenner. He had an older brother, Alfred, and was the father of four children, Holly (Meyers), Melissa(Massey), Tally (Haugen), and Christopher .He was also the grandfather to 6 boys, David L. Massey, Toby Massey, David Bachman, Lauren Paul Bachman, Robert Fred Haugen and Ezikiel Glossbrenner.
He served in the Naval Air Corps in WW II, and married his wife Janice on August 21, 1948 in Greensburg, Indiana. An Indiana University(Bloomington), graduate in 1949, he began work in the steel Industry , and in the 1950s, held prominent positions at Bethlehem Steel in Pennsylvania and the PM Company in Minnesota. In 1964, he ran for Congress in the 8th District of Duluth Minnesota and made key contacts with Barry Goldwater, Bill Miller,(then) Former Vice-President Richard Nixon, and appeared with, and won a televised debate with Walter Mondale. Upon a move to Houston Texas with his family in 1965, he became one of then-Congressman George Bush Sr's first campaign managers. He was an experienced sailor and earned his captaincy with the United States Coast Guard.He loved nothing more than sailing with his family, and teaching his children about the sea.Along with his wife Janice, further moves to Pennsylvania, Maryland and Chicago ensued, where he closed his working career as a sought-after explosives expert for the Vibra- Tech Corporation. Retirement brought the grandchildren;he enjoyed coin and stamp collecting from his early youth , and well into retirement; and along with Janice,he became expert at collecting antique dolls, and together they continued a life-long love affair with dogs; both teaching the children the Benefit of helping animals and doing "what HUMAN BEINGS do" to aid them.
He died peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on October 17, 2009, and was buried alongside his wife Janice, and her parents, Louis R. and Jessie B. Henkle at Greenwood Cemetary in Hamilton, Ohio.
