OLD TIME CITIZEN DIES AT ADVANCED AGE OF 87 YEARS

The call of the Master for those splendid old characters that helped to settle and fashion the destinies of Angelina county goes steadily on. The latest to answer the Dread Summons being R. E. Agee of Huntington, beloved character of that community, who, had he lived until the 16th of the coming month, would have attained the ripe old age of 87 years.

This survivor of the Lost Cause, highly regarded and beloved citizen of Huntington, where he had resided for many years and raised a splendid family of eleven children, consistent member of the Methodist Church for many years, and one whose reputation for honor and integrity was the greatest heritage he left to a long line of grieved and sorrowing sons and daughters and grandchildren, passed away at his home at Huntington last night at 10 o'clock, surrounded by the members of a devoted family, and the remains were interred this afternoon at Glendale cemetery, following the funeral services at the Methodist church in Huntington at 3 o'clock, conducted by Reverend House of that town and H. E. Willis of Lufkin.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Emily Agee; five sons, W. H. of Diboll, D. L. of Lufkin, E. of Texas City, C. M. of LaPorte and C. W. of Belleville; six daughters, Mrs. R. L. Hand, Mrs. A. Spidie and D. W. McKewen of Huntington, J. M. Coward of Lufkin, C. E. Crawford of Austin and E. Cruger of Galveston; together with a large number of grandchildren and many other relatives.

The funeral services of this worthy landmark of Angelina county and East Texas, who had done his lot in settling and fashioning a fit place for the abode of those who followed him, were handled by the Glenn Undertaking Co.
