According to the obituary of his wife he was connected with the Coast and Geodetic Survey and was a cousin of James Fenimore Cooper, the novelist.

Cooper. At 1311 L Street Thursday, March 7 after a long illness, William Wager Cooper, aged sixty-nine years.

Funeral services at his late residence, Monday the 11th at 10AM. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.
