SALEM - Lorraine G. Miller was born in Latah, Washington, January 12, 1920 to Sherman A. and Lydia Williams. She made her home there until she graduated from high school. Upon graduation she traveled with her sister and brother-in-law as part of an evangelistic team. They conducted meetings in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Montana and Washington. It was while holding meetings for Rev. Eli Edwin Miller in Indianapolis that she met his son, her future husband, Winston. They were married in Latah, Washington, September 20, 1940. They conducted evangelistic meetings for a time before taking a pastorate in Montana. They served churches in Montana, Arizona, California and Washington. Her last ministry with her husband was at the First Church of the Nazarene in Salem, Oregon, where she served as the Hospitality minister. She, with others, greeted new people, had a team of women following up on each new visitor, visiting the sick and in general, serving as good will ambassador. From 1956 to 1971, while her husband was Western Director of the Scripture Press Foundation, Lorraine served as the office manager. She also was a Christian Education Consultant and spoke in Sunday School Conventions. Winston and Lorraine moved to Capital Manor Retirement Community in 1988. For several years, Lorraine led a service of music and inspiration each Thursday evening for the residents in Assisted Living at Capital Manor. She also delighted in playing the piano for Manor Care residents and it was evident they appreciated her. Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Donna and her husband John Eicher of Redmond, Wash.; son, Winston "Wink" and his wife Anne Miller of Salem; seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Erma Crabb of Spokane, Washington, and a host of friends to whom she has ministered and been a blessing over the years. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 23 at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
