Joan B. Smith, a member of Creekwood Church of Christ, died Saturday. She was 80.

Mrs. Smith, a native of Okra, Texas, had been a resident of Mobile since 1970.

She was a volunteer at Knollwood Hospital for 20 years and served as volunteer treasurer for five years.

Survivors include one son, Roger J. Smith of Mobile; two sisters, Nell Walker of Loveland, Colo., and Bobbie Wheeler of Eastland, Texas; and one granddaughter.

Viewing will be today from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. services at Creekwood Church of Christ.

A graveside service will be in Elm Cemetery in Eastland, Texas. Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street is handling arrangements. Published in the Press-Register 10/20/2009

Mrs. Joan B. Smith - age 80, a resident of Mobile, AL died at 2:50 P.M. on Saturday, October 17, 2009. Joan Smith was born September 14, 1929 in Okra, TX. She moved to Mobile, AL in 1970. She was a member of Creekwood Church of Christ. Joan was a volunteer at Knollwood Hospital for 20 years. She served as volunteer treasurer for five years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. He faith and courage were an inspiration to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" F. Smith; one sister, Jeffa Lee Kitchens; and one granddaughter, Taylor Danielle Smith. She is survived by her son, Roger J. Smith; daughter-in-law, Cindy R. Smith; one granddaughter, Caitlin N. Smith; two sister, Nell (Chuck) Walker of Loveland, CO and Bobbie Wheeler of Eastland, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Monday, October 19, 2009 at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Creekwood Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Graveside services and interment will be held in Elm Cemetery, Eastland, TX. Funeral arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606.
