STOUGHTON - Eleanor Marie Loftus, age 88, of Stoughton, passed away at Harbor House in Stoughton on Monday, July 31, 2006.

She was born in Rockton on March 2, 1918, a daughter of the late Henry F. and Rose Merle (Ericson) Utermark.

She was united in marriage to Kennerd Loftus on Nov. 18, 1935, in Belvedere, Ill.

Eleanor was a farmer's wife on the Loftus family homestead until 1963, when she and Kennerd operated the Dane and Columbia County agencies of the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation. They operated the agency until retiring in 1981.

Eleanor was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Stoughton, the church circle there, the Sons of Norway, the Pythian Sisters and a life member of the Women of the Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and a 4-H leader, and was proud to have played Kittenball as a teenager.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kennerd, in 1991; her parents; a sister, Charlotte Merz; two brothers, Charles Ericson and Henry F. Utermark Jr.; a stepbrother, Leo Crouch; and stepmother, Jessie Tuttle.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. at COVENANT LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1525 N. Van Buren, Stoughton, with the Rev. Paula Geister-Jones presiding. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery.
