Nita Morris, 102, of Valley and Rockton, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Vernon Manor in Viroqua. Nita was born September 10, 1907 to Samuel and Gertrude Silbaugh.
She went to school at the Otter Creek and LaFarge schools. She married Glenn Morris and they had one son, Theron. They lived in the states of Wisconsin and Washington during their married life.
Nita worked for many years at the C&W Cafe in South Beloit, WI as a waitress where she met many friends. She moved to Cashton, WI in 1958 to be close to her son and family.
After tragedy struck in 1959, Nita took on the daunting task of raising her 3 little orphaned grandchildren who moved to her mother's farm in LaFarge, WI.
She later resided in Soldiers Grove and Valley, WI where she lived until the age of 99 when a fall forced her to reside at Vernon Manor in Viroqua, WI.
Nita was always a hard worker and never shrugged at any task. She loved gardening, canning, reading, and feeding every stray cat that came to her door.
Nita is survived by her grandchildren: Joy Morris Newlun, Michael Morris, and Cindy Morris Watson, several great and great-great grandchildren.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Floyd, Orlie, Selmer and her sister Creda, her husband Glenn and her beloved son Theron and her daughter-in-law Rita.
Funeral Services were held on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Seland - Huston Funeral Home in La Farge. Burial was held at the Starr Cemetery.
