Earl served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-17G "Sky Duster" #42-31386, 359th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.


He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war.


He enlisted in the Army on December 22, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Semiskilled routemen and also as Single, without dependents.


Earl was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 was hit by German flak on the nose and also blew off engine #3, exploded and crashed in Pichelsberg, near Berlin, Germany during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
