Mr. Palmer resided in Carterville for 11 years, moving there from Carthage, where he was born. He had served on the Carthage Police Department and was a member of the Carterville Methodist Church and Perseverence ATA Lodge No. 160.
Surviving was his widow, Mrs. Laura Palmer, who was with her husband when he died. He was also survived by three daughters, one son, two sisters, three brothers, and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry H. Palmer and Elizabeth Masterson "Bessie" Palmer; two sisters, Ruth Palmer and Wilma Marguerite Palmer Ross; and one brother, Robert G. Palmer.
