After spending a year in Canada, the family emigrated to Burns, Oregon in 1926. Trudie learned the English language and graduated from Umatilla High School in 1935 as Class Valedictorian.
The family later moved to Deer Island, Oregon. There she met and married Harley W. Crawford. They were married just after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 24, 1941 while Harley was serving in the U.S. Navy. Together they had three daughters, Barbara, Janice and Judy. She leaves 9 wonderful adult grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Everyone who knew her will remember Trudie as a hard working, kind and caring person who was devoted to her family. She had a love for cats and was an avid U of O Ducks football fan. She also strongly identified with her native country of Switzerland which she visited with members of her family several times where she renewed acquaintanceship with her Swiss cousins. She loved to travel and greatly enjoyed trips to other European countries as well as Hawaii, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
Please make any donations in her memory to the Oregon Humane Society or to Community Meals at First Lutheran Church, 360 Wyeth St., St. Helens.
Hers was a life well lived.
