James W. Sorensen, 82, 306 Randolph, died Tuesday at his home following a illness. (heart ache on the basement stairs)
Mr. Sorensen was born Aug. 29, 1884, in Neeley, a son of Julius and Elizabeth Sorensen. He married Hazel Mae Rudeen, Dec. 31, 1910 in Pocatello.
For many years Mr. Sorensen was a farmer out of American Falls. the family later moved to Stevensville, Mont., where he farmed. In 1927, he moved to Philipsburg, Mont., where he resided until two years ago.
In Philipsburg he worked in the manganses mill until he retired.
He and his wife came to Pocatello last year to make their home with a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Barrett.
He was a member of the 17th ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Three children preceded him in death. Two (three) daugthers died in infancy, a son was killed in a military plane crash near Guam in March 1961. There were 125 servicemen aboard.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Claude, Philipsburg, Mont.; four daughters, Mrs. Rulon (Ethel) Cooper and Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Cooper, Missoula, Mont.; Mrs Sylvia Barrett, Pocatello, and Mrs. Walter (Laura) Edgar, Kaysville, Utah; 21 grandchildren, and 17 great-granchildren; two brothers, Lawrence and Archie Sorensen, of Rupert and a sister, Mrs Ina Grant, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m n Manning Funeral Chapel with Bishop C. S. Bosquet of the 17th ward officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Manning Funeral chapel.
Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
