POCATELLO — Marjorie Chester Quine, 86, Pocatello, died Friday morning, Jan. 27, 2006, at a local long-term care center. She was born Oct. 9, 1919, at Soda Springs, Idaho, to Walter James and Virginia Pratt Chester. Marjorie was raised in Henry, Idaho. She was schooled in a one-room school house by her mother, Virginia Chester, from grades one through eight. She attended high school in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1937. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho in 1941. Marjorie married T. Fredrick Quine Oct. 12, 1944. He preceded her in death April 15, 1994.
Marjorie was a school teacher for the St. Anthony School District, where she met her husband, Fred, who was also a school teacher at the time. She enjoyed gardening, reading and sewing. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Soda Springs and a longtime member of TOPS No. 9.
Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Archie) Higgins of Pocatello, and Susan Quine of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; a son, Douglas Quine of Raleigh, N.C.; a grandson, Walker Quine of Raleigh, N.C.; and niece and nephew,
Virginia "Ginger" Chester and James "Jim" Chester. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Chester.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 309 N. Garfield, Pocatello, with the Rev. Janie Gebhardt conducting.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello.
