Joe was a well known San Antonio, Texas radio DJ. He used his middle name Anthony as his radio last name. Joe Anthony was on San Antonio radio for 5 decades mainly known for his work on San Antonio stations KMAC & KISS. In the 1980's he was nicknamed "The Godfather of Rock n' Roll". Joe's career started in the 1950's playing Rhythm & Blues records on KMAC-AM's "Harlem Serenade". By the 1970's his album rock show was also simulcast on KISS-FM where he was one of the first to feature up and coming Hard Rock and later Heavy Metal bands. Joe along with KMAC/KISS's other main personality Lou Roney helped popularize in San Antonio, South Texas then little known band like Rush, Triumph and Judas Priest just to name a few. Many of these bands credit Joe & Lou and the exposure received on KMAC/KISS to launching their careers. Joe Anthony's memory lives on in the music he brought to San Antonio and making it "The Heavy Metal Capital Of The World".
