Corbit died at 65, at Waterville Osteopathic Hospital, Waterville, Maine on 12 March 1984. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, 6 November 1919, the son of Franklin and Jean Trumble Provost. He was educated in Hartford, Connecticut schools and graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. He served in the US Army Medical Administrative Corp from 1941-1952. Corbit was employed for many years as a hospital administrator, most recently at the Southside Hospital, Bay Shore, Long Island, NY. Following that, he was employed by several Maine State agencies, retiring in 1961. He actively participated as a sponsor in the state of Maine's IndoChinese Resettlement Program.
Corbit is survived by his wife, Michelle (Mickey) O'Malley of North Monmouth, Maine, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Michelle) Craig go Hayttsville, MD, four sons, Rev. John T. Provost of Schenectady, NY, Richard W. and Thomas C. Provost, both of Latham, NY and Robert C. Provost of ValleyFalls, NY, a sister, Mrs. Frank (Marjorie) Bauer of West Hartford, CT: two step-children Colleen T. Davis of Winthrop, ME and Charles A. O'Malley of Farmington, CT; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on 15 March at Bragdon-Flanders Funeral Home , Main Street, Monmouth, Maine and his ashes were buried at Quivet Neck Cemetery, East Dennis, Massachusetts in June 1985.
