Ella Calhoun was daughter of Samuel V and Verlinda Dawson Calhoun of Hookstown, Beaver Co. MO. and Calcutta, Columbiana Co., OH. She later lived in El Paso, IL and Wellington, Sumner Co. KS where she taught school at Independence School. She married Charles O. West in Kansas City Oct 8 1889. She had four children, three born in Colorado: Frederick (1890-1963), Cora (1892-1898), Marjory (1896-after 1985; Her youngest son, Alfred, was born in Kansas City (1901-1993).
