Paul received his bachelor's degree in education from Missouri University in Columbia, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. For 38 years he was an electrical engineer -- first at Bendix (in Mishawaka) for 21 years, and then at Johnson Controls (in Goshen) for 17 years.
