Mr. William S. "Bill" Burns, age 86 a longtime resident of Alabama Port died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at a local hospital. Mr. Burns was a 3rd Engineer serving in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam War. After years in the U.S. Merchant Marines, he was a commercial fisherman. His parents, Martin and Terrill Burns, and three brothers, Robert, James, and Harold Burns preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Margaret S. Burns, step-daughter Joyce Foster, brother John Burns (Rosemary); four grandchildren: Jesse Jemison, Janey Jemison, David Jemison, and Darrell Foster; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The visitation will begin at 12 noon Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Pine Crest Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Burns, Billy Burns, David Burns, Roger Burns, Calvin Calhoun, and Ronnie Wheeler
