Bessie's father, William Lines came from Boston, Lincolnshire, England and left his wife, Julia (Juliette) to go back to England to help his father, Benjamin Lines. William never returned and Juliette refused to travel to England. William Lines and Juliette Raines married on Christmas day 1876.

Bessie B. Beard Dies at Age, 93

Bessie B. Beard, 93, of 302 South California Street passed away at Riverview Hospital Sunday morning, January 28.

Mrs. Beard was born at Hortonville in Hamilton County on November 18,1887, the daughter of William and Julia (Raines) Lines. She was married to Fred Beard on November 13, 1905, and he preceded her in 1956. Mrs. Beard retired in 1970, at the age of 82, as manager of the Fountain Shop in Sheridan. She was a member of the Sheridan First Christian Church.

Survivors are two sons, William F. Beard of Carmel and James Brooks Beard of Sheridan; four daughters, Delight Gundersen, Ingle Barrick, Betty Brocato and Patty Dunlavey, all of Sheridan; 26 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren and one sister, Ethel Wicks of Indianapolis, two sons, Doyle F. and Paul L. Beard and one daughter, Wilma Jean also preceded her.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kercheval Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Hoffman officiating, the burial was in Crown View Cemetery.
