Mrs. Susan V. Smith died this morning at 6 o'clock at her home in Mitchell. She was about 77 years of age and had been in poor health for sometime. Mrs. Smith was a number of years a resident of Bedford, her husband, John V. Smith, being the owner and publisher of the Journal, one of the papers that formed the consolidation that became the Mail.
A. N. Palmer, of Mitchell, a former newspaper man, is her grandson.
The funeral will take place Sunday, but the hour has not been definitely decided on.

Mrs. Smith Dead

Mrs. John V. Smith, who has been sick for some time, died Friday, May 22, 1908.

Funeral services were held at the residence, corner Frank and 6th Streets, conducted by Rev. I. Konkle, of the First Christian Church, assisted by Rev. Sigmon of the First Baptist Church.

Burial took place in Mitchell (City) Cemetery.

Grandma Smith was a fine old lady and will be missed by her neighbors. Her husband, John V. Smith, who has been dead for some time, was at one time editor of the Commercial (newspaper).
