Was murdered by a fellow wagon train traveler in route to Oregon. A Mr. Griffith drove wagon for Fruit Walker, he quarreled with another teamster and tried to hit him over the head w/an ox yoke; when Fruit intervened Griffith shot and killed him. (Ref: Emigrants to Oregon in 1853).
