William "Tom" Legg lived off of 18 Mile Creek Road in Putman County WV. My dad remembers Tom Legg as being a very nice man that had a lot of patience with the kids when they visited him. Story has it Tom was a drifter that ended up helping out on Richard Hamilton Crandall's farm. Richards son CW and Tom ended up marrying twin sisters Lillie and Rosa Plants.
