As a toddler, he and his family emigrated to the United States aboard the ship "Falcon" in 1853; they traveled across the plains with the Appleton Harmon Company and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in October of that same year.
They settled in Big Cottonwood Canyon, then traveled to Cache Valley in 1862 and settled in Mendon.
Henry married Agnes Eleanor Gardner on July 8, 1872, in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah.
