He was united in marriage to Minnie Summers, who passed away in 1923. To this union five sons were born, Verner of Albany KY, Chester and William of Salem, Il and Jessie and Carley, who preceded him in death.
He was then married to Maggie Pharis of Cumberland County KY, and to the union was born one son who passed away in infancy, and three daughters who survive, Josephone Ford of Farina, IL, Mary Sanders of Beaver KS, and Anna Lee Ashley of Olney Texas.
He also leaves one brother C.J. Brown of Albany KY.
John was a farmer. Some of his farming life was spent share croping on the Float Taylor farm near Nancy, KY. During their time in Illinois, he worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Salem IL.
