Elijah was the son of John Musgrave. He married Basheba Musgrave. To this union, two sons were born:

"In the beginning Elijah and his brother Samuel Musgrave came to Pennsylvania at an unknown date but before the Revolutionary War (1775-1783). The exact date of Elijah's birth is not known but it is believed to be about 1750. In hte 1830 census he was 80 years old, T living in his own household. In 1840 he and his wife Basheba were living with their son David B., according to the census. But in the 1860 census they were not listed. Elijah and his wife are buried over on Indian Creek near Arnettsville, WV. Then it was in Monongalia County, VA. Now WV. In the old Corday Musgrave Cemetery, now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Page. On their monuments, Elijah was 104 years old and Basheba was 102. Elijah and his brother first settled in Pennsylvania before coming to Mononagalia County. The following Revolutionary War Service was copied from Mrs. Clem Wilson and Frank Clines' files of Hot Springs, Arkansas, regarding Elijah Musgrave's Civil War Service. According to Pennsylvania Archives 3 Vol., 23 page, 755 and 759, he was a soldier who served from Cumberland County, PA, in Captain John Obisen's Company, 14 th Battalion, and Colonel John Scott's Company. Later Elijah and his wife settled Monongalia County, now known as Pharoah's Run near Rivesville, Marion, WV.... Elijah was given a land grant from the government for 400 acres of land. The log cabin which he built is still standing on the Johnny Michael piece of land, now owned by Mrs. Pauline Brock Lough, a great, great, great, granddaughter." They had two sons: Job Musgrave, born 1794, died December 24, 1814, and David B. Musgrave, born 12 May 1785, died 1863 in Monongalia County, WV. Both sons were born in PA.

According to the Quaker records, Elijah married and disowned before 16 July 1777. "Hath so far erred as to remove to a DISTANT part without taking the advice of Friends and without a certificate and accomplished his marriage before a Magistrate to his first cousin.

Elijah was a Rev. War Vet. serving Cumberland County, Pa and later Mon. County now W. Va.
