Betty Jean Galgoci, 81, of Mount Pleasant passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Central Michigan Community Hospital.
Funeral services for Betty will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. from Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Karen Latham officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Betty was born on Aug. 31, 1927, in Saginaw, the daughter of Wendell and Charlotte (Richmond) Hagon. She graduated from Mt Pleasant High School, Class of 1945. Betty married Emery Galgoci on June 17, 1950. She worked as an assistant to Dr. Kuno Hammerberg of Clare. Betty was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. She loved to play bingo, was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her cat, Ginger.
Betty is survived by her children, Wendell (Sandra) Galgoci of Coleman and Larry (Jan) Galgoci of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Joe (Charlotte) Galgoci of Mt. Pleasant, Todd (Tracey) Galgoci of Shepherd, Barry (Lisa) Galgoci of Sugar Hill, Ga., Michelle (Thodoris) Mihopoulos of San Jose, Calif., Brad (Erisa) Galgoci of Fenton and Dena (Aric) Clarke of Coleman, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Emery, in September 1986, and her very close brother, Duane Hagon, in March 2008.
