Note: Jack appears to be a nickname while his son was actually given the name Jack. Issues over his correct birth date are also not resolved yet with a good birth record source with each record correctly known tends to common errors on locations. Cemetery index shows June 7, 1888, birth and obituary shows June 1, 1888 and WWI draft shows June 1, 1887 headstone only displays a year. Jun 1888 is maybe the closest to an actual good date.

Be Tuesday At Sayre
For Jack P. Abbott


Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Nazarene church in Sayre for Jack P. Abbott, Merritt. Officiating minister will be Rev. Karody. Abbott died following a heart attack.

Abbott was born on June 1, 1888, to Rev. and Mrs. J. W. Abbott and was married to Ivy Smith on January 4, 1917.(sic) He was reared and married in the Merritt community.

Preceding him in death were two sisters and his parents.

Surviving him other than his wife are his children, J. C. Abbott, Sam Marino, Cal.; Lloyd Abbott, Sayre; Mrs. W. V. Garland, Amarillo, and Mrs. Gerald Johnson, Sayre; two brothers, Edd Abbott, Sayre, and Mack Abbott, Roswell, New Mexico, and one sister, Mrs. Vern Joseph.
