MRS. ELIZABETH HOLT BURIED AT CHRIESMAN
After an illness of two years Mrs. Elizabeth Grundy Holt, wife of the late C. R. Holt, of Chriesman, Texas, passed away January 11, 1928 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Sullivan, of Ft. Worth. If Mrs. Holt had lived until the twenty-sixth inst. she would have been seventy-three years of age.

Before her marriage she was Miss Elizabeth Grund Beall and her maiden days were spent in Rockdale, Texas. On December 16, 1877, she was married to C. R. Holt and together they lived in Chriesman where ten children were born to them, six of whom survive. In 1915 the husband and father of the family was claimed in death, but the mother continued at the old home place until the last child had grown to maturity and had gone forth to create new homes in other places. Then it was in 1923, that she left Burleson County to be near her children. These children are Mrs. Sam Taylor of Burleson, Texas; Mrs. W. L. Clinton of Tahoka; James Holt and Mrs. Morgan Dickinson of Lubbock; Mrs. J. W. Sullivan of Ft. Worth, Rogert Holt of Silsbee, Cal., also survives. There are also eleven grand-children and four great-grand-children who deeply mourn, for it was Mrs. Holt's especial delight to be called "Grandmother". Her consuming passion was to mother, her field of labor was the home. This home was always open to friends or way-farer alike and it was indeed a haven to all who needed encouragement or inspiration. A visit with this strong but gentle woman never failed to inspire pristine thinking and Christian like living.

She was from childhood, a devoted member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church and she exemplified in her life the teachings of that church as laid down in God's word. The greatness of her character has been fully attested by the devotion of her friends and relatives. In each place of residence a great host of people were invariably drawn to her. During her illness she was unusually cherrful and bore her suffering with much patience. Very noticeable was her appreciation for every service rendered her, either great or small.

Although she loved living, death had no paralyzing terror. She contemplated it as a means of continuing unfinished work in the spiritual land.

The remains were brought to Chriesman Thursday, January 12, and interred by the side of her husband. Rev. Potts of Austin, a former pastor conducted the services at the Presbyterian church and at the grave. With hiim stood hundreds of old friends whose hearts were wrenched at the going away of her who was a blessing and a benediction to the lives of many."
