Helen V. Nelson, age 85, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 10:15 P.M. on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois. She was born on February 8, 1924 in Tampico, Illinois, the daughter of I.N. and Grace Scott Yarde. She married Orval E. Nelson on July 19, 1941 in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2008
Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Doug) Donovan of Knoxville, Illinois and Noreen (Forry) Davis of Morton, Illinois; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Yarde of Yates City, Illinois and Jean (Jack) Craig of Elmwood, Illinois; one brother, Terry (Janise) Yarde of New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother: Dale.
She was reared educated in Yates City, Illinois attending the Yates City High School in Yates City, Illinois. She worked at the former Farmers National Bank in Knoxville, Illinois as a teller, then a bookkeeper. She enjoyed her family. She was a member of the Knoxville United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. Bob Herath officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home in Knoxville, Illinois. Burial in Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville United Methodist Church.
