Lila Jean Roberson Powell, 75, of Salem, Va., and formerly of Rocky Mount, Va., passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Lacy and Thelma McBride Roberson; and a daughter, Cheryl Sink. Surviving is her son, Thomas B. Sink; daughter, Jennifer S. Powell; siblings, Betty Roberson (Clifford) Blankenship, Edna Roberson (Charles) Finney, Lynn Roberson (Richard) Tracey and Thomas L. (Ann) Roberson Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to their friends on Units 3 and 4 at Salem Health and Rehab for their wonderful care. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Lotz Salem Chapel where a gathering for friends and family will begin at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825-A Electric Road, SW, Roanoke, Va. 24018. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.
