Berdella B. Richey, 93, of Mansfield, died Wednesday evening, October 14, 2009, at Crystal Care Center. Born April 25, 1916, in Ashland County, she is the daughter of Jason and Ona (Allenbaugh) Carpenter.

She was an area homemaker her entire life and her true passion in life was her love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her earlier years, Berdella enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband, Glenn.

She is survived by a son, Ken (Nancy) Richey of Mansfield; a daughter, Dixie (Ronald) Griffeth of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Ryan William (Amy) Richey of Bowling Green, Robyn Michelle May of Lexington and Randall Craig (Jennifer) Richey of LaVergne, TN; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Hayden Richey, Margaret Diana Richey and Charles Kenneth May; six brothers and sisters, Velma Wigton, Juanita Naylor, Mae Thompson, Robert (Edna) Carpenter, Betty (Dean) Miller and Richard (Shirley) Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; parents; and brothers and sisters, Ernest, Carl, Gerald, Doyle and Weldon Carpenter, Viola Smith, Lillian Sweval and Donna Jean Knofflock.
