Ernest Keith Poulsen, 73, died July 11, 1997, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born August 27, 1923, in Fairview, Utah, to Ernest G. Poulsen and Melba Mower Poulsen.

Married Mavis Page, May 2, 1944, in Lynwood, California.

She preceded him in death.

Married Alexina (Allee) Monson, March 25, 1966, in Taylorville.

Survived by his wife of Taylorsville; four children and four stepchildren, Rhonda (Phil) Yorgason, LeAnn Clark, Shanna (Henry) Dumas, Sandy; Marlene Bills, Salt Lake City; Linda (Tim) Durrant, Payson; Douglas (Lisa) Monson, Bountiful; Dean (Leslee) Monson and Elaine Monson, Taylorsville; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, John Poulsen, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Doris (Fred) Peterson, Magna; and Kathy (Del) Eastman, Herriman.

Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeff Clark; and two brothers, Robert and Max.

Keith was raised in Fairview, Midvale and Copperton.

Attended Jordan High School and graduated from Bingham High School.

Army veteran, and very proud of his country.

He served overseas in China during World War II.

Employed at Kennecott Copper Bingham Canyon Mine for 39 years.

Retired in 1982 as a General Foreman.

Member of the LDS Church. Amateur and semi-pro baseball pitcher in his youth.

Former member of the Utah Gladiolus Society with many championship awards.

Avid fisherman and master gardener.

Loved to travel and watch the Utah Jazz. Most of all, he loved his family and was very proud of them.

We will miss him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15, 1997 at 12 Noon at the Taylorsville 25th Ward Chapel, 4505 South 3420 West, Taylorsville.

Friends may call Monday, July 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State Street, Midvale, and again on Tues. morning from 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his name to the Moran Eye Center, University of Utah.
