RANDOLPH - Marjorie Virginia Swan, 93, of Route 394, Randolph, and a winter resident of Bokeelia, Fla., passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, in WCA Hospital in Jamestown.
She was born Aug. 2, 1916, in the town of Conewango, N.Y., the daughter of the late Bruce and Wilda Hitchcock Wil-cox.
She was a 1936 graduate of the first graduating class at Randolph Central School. She was a homemaker, and in earlier years she had worked for former Randolph Mayor Samuel Abbott at his Sammy's Diner in Randolph. She was a member and past deacon of the Randolph United Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Randolph American Legion Unit 181 Auxiliary, town of Randolph election inspector for more than 48 years and the Cattaraugus County Republican Com-mittee. She had also enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by a son, James Robert Swan and his wife, Rita of Lawrenceville, Pa.; two daughters: Rose Mary ''Rosie'' Swan of Randolph, and Susan Kath-leen Peirce and her husband, George of Bokeelia, Fla.; five grandchildren: James and Ronald McClendon, Cinnamon Becker, Renee' Kelley and Scott Swan; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Gerald Swan, whom she married on April 6, 1940, and who passed away on May 15, 1977; brothers: George, Willis and Robert Wilcox; and sisters: Jean Whitney and Joan Crissey.
