Second Lieutenant, 570th Bomb Squadron, 390th Bomb Group, World War II.

Pilot of B-17G Flying Fortress #42-97407, nicknamed "The As-Te-Risk." Struck by flak on mission to strike the I.G. Farben chemical and synthetic oil works at Leuna, Merseburg, Germany. The bomber then collided with B-17 #44-8080 and crashed into a field. Missing Air Crew Report № 4047.
Three crewmembers survived and were taken as POWs. Six airmen were KIA:
