Both Francis Jackson and Elizabeth Worsham (Woorsham) Childress were born at Sailor's Creek, Prince Edward's Co. Va. He was the son of Thomas Jackson Jr. and Mary Franklin Jackson. Thomas Jackson died in 1792 in Prince Edward Co. and left a will naming his children, including Francis.

Francis Marion Jackson married Elizabeth Woosman Childress on 5 Feb., 1789 in Prince Edwards Co. Va.

His biography states, "After we were married, we then left the neighborhood and lived sometime in the County Amelia and sometime in the County of Cumberland and sometime in the County of Buckingham, Virginia from which last named County, I moved in the spring of the year 1803 and did arrive at the place of our destination on the ninth of April, this being Town Creek, Rockingham County, North Carolina at which said place we resided until the thirteenth day of March in the year 1811. On that day I started with part of my family to the State of Tennessee. About the middle of the month of April, I hove {sic} on the waters of Harpeth in the County of Williamson, rented a plantation known by the name of Sink Holes."

Their nine oldest children were born in Virginia. The youngest two were born in Rockingham Co., North Carolina. They were the parents of eleven children:
- Thomas
- Robert
- Richard
- James - b. 1794, (burial unknown) m. Angeline Landrum
- John Childress
- Mary Franklin "Polly" - 1798-1874, (burial unknown) m. Adam Hendrick
- Nancy Osborne
- Nathan
- Williams
- Francis Jr.
- David

In his autobiography he continues,"I then moved from that Place (Sink Holes) to one of my own in the same neighborhood and stayed there until the ninth day of August 1831. On this date my wife died."

Francis went on to marry the widow, Mary Allison, but they divorced in 1835. On 16 June, 1835 he married Sally Revel. This final marriage lasted 10 years. No children were born from his last two marriages.

He is found in the 1820, 1830 and 1840 US Federal Census records for Williamson Co. Tn., where he is proven to be a slave owner. He is also found in the Tn. tax records for Williamson Co. The family bible record of Francis Jackson of Rutherford Co., Tn is in the Tennessee State Library & Archives.
