Our beloved Dad, Grandpa and friend peacefully passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living Center. Lyle was born March 22, 1933 in Cozad, Nebraska to Arthur N. and Mary F. Ashley Coffey. He lived in South Wyoming and Ogden, Utah.

He married Judy A. Durrant on August 31, 1957 in Elko, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 26, 1982. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was devoted to his callings, including High Priest Group Leader, Sunday School Secretary and Home Teacher.

Lyle worked for the Union Pacific Railroad with over 43 years of service, retiring as a locomotive engineer in 1992.

He enjoyed square dancing, Wendover trips, baseball Spring Training in Arizona, and visiting his children and grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents and a brother, Don Coffey.

He is survived by his children, Steve (Laura) Coffey, of Mesa, AZ; Scott (Teri) Coffey of Ogden; Mike (Chrisan) Coffey of Alpharetta, GA; Karleene (Roger) Owens, of Hooper; and Ruth Ann (Shane) Griffiths of Mesa, AZ; a brother, Victor (Phyllis Ann) Coffey, 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living Center.

He was such a warm and generous person who gave so much of himself and brought so much happiness into the lives of others. He made a wonderful difference in this world. He will never be forgotten. We love you Dad!

Services will be held Tuesday, September 8, at 11:00 am at the South Ogden 6th Ward, 4380 Orchard Ave. Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd. on Monday from 6:00-8:00 pm and at the church on Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 am.

Interment will be held at the Morgan South Cemetery.
