JONES, Asenah J. SWART - Died, at her country home four miles south of Bentonville, Ark. Saturday at 2:30 p.m. July 31st, 1920, Mrs. J.C. Jones after being in failing health for almost a year Asenah J. Swart was born in Greene county, Pennsylvania April 30, 1840 and at the time of her death was eighty years and three months of age. At an early date in life she united with the Baptist church of her girlhood home. She was married March 10, 1859 to John Clarke Jones, also of Greene county. unto this union seven children were born, five of whom are left to mourn her going. All were present beside her deathbed but the eldest son, Frank, who resides in Canada. She was the eldest of a family of fourteen children and leaves to grieve her loss, besides a host of friends, one brother, one sister, twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. After the close of the war in 1868 she came with her husband and four small children to Deep River, Iowa where they lived twelve years. From Deep River to Audubon, Iowa, residing there fourteen years and from Audubon, Iowa to her present home south of Bentonville where she resided until the time of her death, a period of nearly twenty-six years, having come here in the year 1894. Mrs. J.C. Jones was the mother of Mrs. H.W. Gipple, Mrs. Allie Lewis, Lewis S. Jones and Mrs. Villa Pratt, all who live in the vicinity of Bentonville, the eldest son, Frank, being a resident of Canada. She was a woman of sterling character and was respected by friends and neighbors. Her first thought was always of her children and her home. A touching scene at the funeral services was the loving tribute paid by the five grandsons who acted as pall bearers, whom she had loved and cared for since babyhood, all sons of Mrs. Gipple. The funeral services were conduced at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 1st at her home by Rev. J.R. Campbell after which she was laid to rest in the Bentonville cemetery beside her husband who preceded her to the great beyond nine years ago. In loving memory of our dear mother, Mrs. H.W.
