PORT ARTHUR - Amanda Christine Haley, 92, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2007, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur.

Christine was born on July 23, 1914 in Port Arthur, Texas to Maude Kries McGaffey and Charles Arnold McGaffey. She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and a charter member of Aldersgate Trinity United Methodist Church in Port Arthur. Christine was a retired clerk/cashier for Weingarten's for many years. She was known for her sewing and crocheting, cooking for her family, reading books, and she especially loved her cats.

Christine is survived by her daughters, Mary Ruth Defrancis and her husband Frank of Port Arthur, Polly Smith and her husband, Rush of Humble; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Dallas Clark Haley who passed away in 1989.
